Should Be Sleeping

Just got back from the Shibuya Eggman show. We didn’t have a whole lot of people this round, partly because of the short notice, but it was a lot of fun. We ended up drinking with the lastsecond guys a bit afterwards, and man, they were fantastic. That’s one of the great parts about playing out so much — you always run into so much talent.

In other news, I’m working too much, sleeping too little, and in general, about to die. I finished reading “New Moon” by Stephenie Meyer (which deserves it’s own blog topic it was so bad), and have moved on to “Blaze” by Richard Bachman (aka Stephen King), that my dad left me. And it’s got a kidnapped baby and a messed up guy falling in love with em. And maybe it’s because I’m a father now, but it tears my heart out at times. I’m so scared to see how it’s going to end.

So on that note, goodnight internet.

I’m still confused as to why you’re reading those god-awful books anyway, haha.

Random: I just finished reading “Underground” by Haruki Murakami about the Aum gas attacks on the subway in the 90’s. Have you read it? It’s super interesting, and you might find it particularly interesting since you live in Japan. Just a thought!

No, I haven’t but it is definitely going on my list. The only Murakami book I have read is “Earthquake” which I thought was rather original. I’ll have to check “Underground” out.

Random note, did you know Aum is still around even to this day? They just had a name change. My personal favorite Japanese crazies have to be the panawave group though. They go around draping white sheets over everything to protect their leader from alien electromagnetic waves.

Which begs the question: when the hell did white sheets block electromagnetic waves in the first place?

I am a fan of Twilight. I do agree that Stephenie Meyer isn’t exactly a good writer, but she’s a good storyteller. I am just a sucker for vampire stuff as well as a good dose of romance how sappy it may be.

I agree, the story is rather catchy and I really have no qualms about that. I was able to get through the first OK but the second — well, the writing was just too distracting. It’s probably just lack of confidence on her part (i.e. over explanation) but she writes as if her readers are stupid — and that drives me nuts.

Glad you had fun and ended up meeting cool people! That’s part of the reason why I dorkily like school… engaging yourself in what you love will often lead you to meeting some amazing people with similar interests :)

I haven’t quite read any of the Twilight books despite being urged by many so I can decide for myself what I really think about them. However all the people I’ve talked to who have suggested books I’ve ended up loving have told me about how terrible her writing is. I hear the story itself is okay but the writing? I’ve heard some joke around about how you’d think she would have an editor!

If she had an editor there would be nothing left :P

    Sorry, I’m being mean.
