Shrimp

Filed under: All Posts — Wrote by Scott on Friday, November 6th, 2009 @ 9:56 pm

Made some baked shrimp tonight for dinner, via Lorne’s recipe:

And some garlic cheese bread just because it’s easy:

The princess got out of the shower tonight, wrapped her blue towel around herself like a dress, and started prancing around the house saying “Anna Princess! Anna Princess!”

Trust me, we know.

And I have no clue why, but she always wants to put our camera on timer, place it on the TV stand, and take family photos. She watched us do it once when some friends came over and she has been hooked ever since.

I have like a million of these photos now, yet only a handful of pictures of just Ren. Every time I try to take one, she has to jump in the frame.

I think we need to set her up a myspace account or something.

the food looks so yummy! the garlic cheese bread….yummm. it’s also probably b/c it’s 10 am here and I haven’t eaten breakfast at all. -sigh-

love the family pictures! it’s always hard to take ‘full’ family pics b/c someone always has to hold the camera! - especially outside of the house where placing a camera somewhere on timer is more difficult!

I just made garlic cheese bread last night. Okay okay, not “make” i opened up a box of frozen garlic/cheese bread and threw it in the toaster oven. Honestly, yours looks way better.

I think you guys need a reality tv show.

    Amy -

Thanks! I would say get yourself some breakfast but I guess it’s way past that time by this point :P

I don’t know, the frozen variety can be pretty good too. I used to eat the hell out of those things back when I was in school.

    Katy -

Fresh basil, parsley, and oregano mixed with bread crumbs (I used the ones made to be used with tempura). Dipped them in butter/lemon juice to get it to stick. Came out pretty good :)

I think just the princess needs a reality show. If it involved us it would be hour after hour of us just giving Ren milk (laugh).

Dude, the shrimp came out wicked! Well done! Now all you need is a catchy line or phrase and you can start your own cooking show!
    BAM!

    Lorne -

I managed to cook em a lot better this time (higher heat, shorter time as we discussed) but it still wasn’t as good as when you made them — the herbs weren’t fresh enough and the taste wasn’t as strong as it was last time.

The baked shrimp looks great!! What did you use to coat it??

She is definitely such a beautiful princess! How old is she?? I’m amazed she knows how to put the camera on timer!

Fresh basil, parsley, and oregano mixed with tempura bread crumbs — the shrimp were dipped in butter to coat.

And thanks! She is two and into absolutely everything. She can’t put the camera on timer by herself though. She brings it to one of us to set the mode for her. She can however use the DVD player by herself to an extent, which is rather scary :P

Your posts should come with a warning… food pictures included or something like that because now I’m starving and it’s 2:40 in the morning.

Love that the princess loves taking pictures… and family pictures at that! I wish we could have taken more family pics when my siblings and I were younger… Unfortunately, digital cameras didn’t exist yet back then and film was somewhat precious.

OMG! I am drooling now like Homer heheheh. The shrimp dish looks soooo delicious.

The family portrait is just adorable! Loves it!

    Haha, sorry about that.

Yeah, having digital cameras certainly makes it easier. You can just snap away and delete what you don’t want without worrying about having to pay for film or development.

Thanks, it came out pretty decent. I don’t buy shrimp all that often but it was a good dish to learn how to make.

That is too adorable that she does that! I hope when I have kids they aren’t camera shy like I was at their age.

The princess just loves pictures. She’s got a plenitude of poses prepared as well. It may change when she gets older, but for some reason I doubt it — she just loves attention.
