Had band rehearsal last night and we are gonna take next week off. We are just putting the final touches on “Summer,” trying to get it how we want it for recording next week. To be honest, there really isn’t too much to do with it. I think I have one lead-in fill for the second chorus I’m not terribly satisfied with but that’s about it. And you really can’t play that song too many times in a row anyway without getting utterly sick of it. Not that I don’t like the song of course — I love it, but it can be a bit monotonous doing it over and over again. The drum part just isn’t all that involved and I catch myself spacing out after a while.
Anyhow, it seems we have about a million things going on at once these days. “Escape These Moments,” is getting some airtime on roundeyeradio and KIAC, which is quite lovely. We are also starting to really dig in plan for our first full album release, and those talks seem to be going rather well. And of course a pound of other things.
The wifey and I (along of course with the princess) headed out to Gifu/Nagoya for a friend’s wedding and to go visit the wifey’s family. The wedding was really nice. There were a bunch of kids there so the princess had a blast, and she could pretty much just raise hell as usual without it being too much of an issue. They had a big garden covered with all these electric candles in glass cups and she ran all across the place gathering them up into little piles.
She also of course broke about three of them.
The next day was just dinner with the fam and it’s honestly been forever since we had been able to take the princess out to see them. We really should more I think.

We had a pretty good show at Club Asia last Thursday. It’s probably the biggest place I have played since moving to Japan — really cool venue. I actually got lost trying to find a bathroom backstage and somehow ended up in the VIP room. So you know, I just took a piss in there instead.
Don’t worry, it had a bathroom.
Anyhow, I have a pound of really good pics I have gathered up from our last couple shows but they are waiting for a time when I’m not beating my head over tax paperwork or ideally, after I have actually managed to get some sleep for a change. Which most likely means “never.”
But yeah, there are pictures to sort and upload, websites to update, a million little “in-the-works” projects flowing in the background, a recording coming up next month, most likely another show in June, and well, we are just having a busy year — which of course is a good thing.
So thanks to all the people that came out to the Asia show and we got lots of fun new stuff just up on the horizon so keep checking in!
The wifey and I went out to see “Watchmen” last weekend. I enjoyed it for the most part. Not fantastic maybe, but worth the watch. It was a pretty long flick (about three hours) but it didn’t really feel that long; it was paced well enough that it didn’t drag. Anyhow, pretty fun.
And Eminem of course has a new single out now, along with a new album dropping next month. I am always half-ashamed to admit this but I rather dig his music — and I like the new single as well. The guy is just so insanely talented. He is one of those artists that you just kind of find yourself getting addicted to the more you hear — or at least that was how it was for me anyway. I never really listened to him much when he came out. I was in a bar in Thailand and there was this band playing horrific western music covers, and two foreign girls convinced the DJ to put in their Eminem CD. For whatever reason, the song (I think it was “Without Me”) just got stuck in my head and I had to go check out more, and the more I heard, the more I started liking it. Kind of funny how these things work.
We had some furniture delivered from Ikea this weekend and I have now spent close to five hours trying to put together a damn file cabinet. “Put together” is probably the wrong terminology to use here; it’s more like “build the entire thing from scratch.”
I have honestly never seen something as ridiculous as this before: you have to quite literally put everything together yourself. I just got finished screwing on these little plastic screw caps on cabinet rails that oddly enough, would have actually taken up less space in the box if they were on to start with.
Anyhow, I put in about another hour tonight and I am just about finished. I just have nail the backs on the cabinets and that is pretty much it (yes by the way, I said “nail,” not “screw”). It’ll have to wait till tomorrow though because it’s a bit too late to be banging the shit out of stuff in the garage.
I’m honestly rather scared to start putting together the other cabinet we bought. It wouldn’t surprise me if I open the box to find a big sheet of plywood with an Ikea instruction guide showing that stupid little blob of a man running a damn jigsaw through it. On the positive side though, if you ever need to build yourself a file cabinet, I can give you overly detailed instructions on how to do so.
